Fabron

Fabron occupies the hillside overlooking the western end of the Promenade des Anglais. The district has kept its park, the one belonging to the château de Fabron, and most of its trees: seen from the sea, the slope reads green before it reads built.

Life here is quiet and high up. The streets climb in hairpins, the residences step up the slope, and each level gains a little more sea. A car remains useful for the shopping, but tram line 2 has brought the lower part of the district closer to the centre and the airport.

The building stock is dated and unapologetic: residences from the 1960s and 1970s, designed for the view, with deep balconies and often a shared pool. Between them, pre-war villas survive, and terraced plots planted with olive trees.

On the market, Fabron sells on the view and the floor. The same building can vary twofold depending on which way it faces. Buyers come for floor area they would no longer find on the seafront, with outdoor space and a parking place.
